Books & Co.: The Little Singapore Book

Paintings tell a thousand tales, and history is also filled with fascinating stories of people and animals that have come before. We bring art and history together in this 11/2-hour event where kids discover the 700-year- old story of Singapore. Join us for a storytelling session by Sim Ee Waun, author of The Little Singapore Book and hear little known tales of Singapore. For instance, did you know the Mongolians came here to look for elephants hundreds of years ago? Or that there was a giant, myth-laden tree in Changi that grew over 20 storeys high? Along the way, find out too about the hidden heritage of some of the neighbourhoods we pass through every day.

Then go on a specially curated tour to see the National Gallery's artworks that depict similar events from the book, and see how authors and artists tell the same tale through different perspectives and means. The afternoon ends with a craft session based on old Singapore.

All children participants also get to bring home The Little Singapore Book activity book.
